TONY KART RACING TEAM
CIK-FIA European Championships KF1 - KF2
Salbris (F) - 02-05.08.2007
In KF1 category, furthermore the certain win of Marco Ardigò, Gary Catt takes the second place, winning in both races. Umpteenth total win for the Tony Kart Racing Team!
The racing day at Salbris turned into a great triumph thanks to the fantastic job of the Racing Team and the smashing drivers. In the weekend came one after other strong emotions and hard work and ended up with a fantastic achievement that recompenses all the team’s effort. Will Stevens was the master in KF2, lining up on pole thanks to a resounding 59”517, a fantastic lap time for this category. At once Will seemed very concentrated and motivated to reach the European achievement. His Tony Kart EVX shoed its perfect balance and its ability to fit every track’s condition. Stevens took victory in each of his four heats, earning the pole position and outmatching the pre-final race as well! The young racer Will paced the 20-lap final race, showing an uncommon maturity off. In the first laps he controlled Tarancon and his FA-Vortex, who hadn’t intention of leaving the British karter streaking ahead. A the end of the race Will had control over Monras, who took second place, setting fastest laps one after the other. Felix Da Costa, the other Tony Kart driver, had an unlucky touch in the pre-final race, who took him away the chance of the front row in the final. In the KF1, the European Championship was already won by Marco Ardigò but it also had the best epilogue that Tony Kart could hope. Gary Catt won the first race after a wonderful and correct fight with his team mate Ardigò. In the second race the podium was monopolized by Tony Kart, Gary Catt took the second victory together with the certain to be second the European ranking, Marco Ardigò finished second and James Calado third, crowning it all. Francesco Antonucci deserves praise as well, he was unlucky in both races but always very fast. For him this race was a chance to gain confidence in view of the next important rounds. The wins at Salbris, the last of a long series, arrived in a period in which the team has worked very hard before the final rush of the racing season that will culminate with the World Championship at Marienbourg, and they are achieved in a very technical track, an elaborate mixture of fast and slow corners. A positive viaticum for the next engagements. |
Giacomo Aliprandi – Team Manager Tony Kart Racing Team
“The emotion is always a lot! In Kf1 the situation was already known, but in KF2 everything was to be settled ! In the last month we worked very well in the KF2, and this was seen already at the Open Master. We didn’t expect such race , but we were confident. Will won everything ! It is very nice to work with him, he gives a great satisfaction. About the KF1, it wasn’t so easy to win, but we were more safe since the Championship was already settled. We tried some new solution of the equipment and this was very useful for us.” |

Marco Ardigò - driver Tony Kart Racing Team EUROPEAN CHAMPION KF1
“In the first race, after a correct fight with Gary, I saw Manzur behind very close to me, and I pushed so much to make the last lap without pressure. We tried some different solution in the kart in view of the World Championship, and it was very useful because the European Championship was already settled and we could make tests racing with the best rivals. Two second position are absolutely not failed wins, and celebrate the European title with two podia is always fantastic!! |
